Listen To Your City will be a week long production specifically for incoming 7th-9th graders to record about what makes New Orleans so special.

What is Listen To Your CITY?

Each session will be Monday to Friday from 9AM to 3PM. During this time, we will take kids on the road and explore the city to connect and record about the many amazing different work, projects, and people in NOLA.

Here is what a typical day will look like. We are so excited to spend our summer recording awesome content, learning how to use new equipment, and collaborating with new friends.

When IS Camp?

We will offer two separate, week long sessions in June (see dates below). Each session will be Monday to Friday from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. Aftercamp will be offered to families for an additional $25. Please indicate that you are interested during registration.

  • Session 1– June 6th- June 10th
  • Session 2- June 13th- June 17th

Families can sign up for both sessions, but the two sessions will be similar.

Where is Camp This Year?

This summer, we are very grateful to be hosting our camp at New Harmony High School (3368 Esplanade Ave, 70119). We will be taking multiple field trips throughout the week. All transportation will be provided and is included in the camp cost.

How much is Camp?

Camp costs $250 per week. With that, cost should not be an obstacle in attending camp. We reserve half of our spots for full and reduced scholarships. If interested in scholarship, please reach out to

How Will Covid-19 Affect Camp?

We take the safety of our campers very seriously and are monitoring local and federal guidance on how to proceed this summer. We will be updating our current expectations below and will follow up with families on these exact guidelines.

All programming will be designed with safety, sanitation, and distance as a priority. Please read our safety guidelines here for specific details. We believe that this week can provide a very necessary and genuine outlet for your child to share their experience over the last few months.

Who is leading this camp?

Alex Owens taught the Innovator’s Workshop at Bricolage for five years, providing students the space and tools to design, build, and make everything from stop motion animations to cardboard prototypes.

With partner Diana Turner, they launched BricoRadio, a student-run radio station that features the stories, music, and good work of the Bricolage community.

Be Loud Studios is a product of that effort as we bring radio and digital media tools to learning communities across New Orleans.
