Join us for a week of creative exploration and digital production.

After two months stuck at home, we strongly believe that kids in New Orleans both need and want genuine outlets to create, express themselves, and tell their stories. Be Loud Camp will be a week long adventure dedicated to engaging students through radio production, creative exploration, and personal storytelling. We want to hear what they need to say.

Here is a typical day at Be Loud. We intentionally build opportunities for youth to not only learn specific digital tools, but also play and explore on their own. Every day will follow a general rule of thirds: ⅓ Tool Training, ⅓ Open Creativity, ⅓ Outdoor Fun

We are so excited to spend our summer recording awesome content, learning how to use new equipment, and collaborating with new friends.

When IS Camp?

We will offer four separate, week long sessions throughout the summer (see dates below). Each session will be Monday to Friday from 9:00AM to 3:30PM. There will be no before or after care provided.

  • Session 1– June 8- June 12
  • Session 2- June 15- June 19
  • Session 3- July 13th-July 17th
  • Session 4- July 20th-July 24th

Where is Camp This Year?

This summer, we are very grateful to be hosting our camp at Bricolage Academy (2426 Esplanade Ave, 70119). This site provides us both an awesome studio space, but also tons of outside space (and gym!) to be loud!

We will also spend one day exploring the neighborhood and capturing the sights and sounds of the area.

How much is Camp?

Camp costs $225.00 per week. There will be adjusted rates available for families that receive free and reduced lunch. If interested in scholarship, please reach out to alex@beloudstudios.org

How Will Covid-19 Affect Camp?

We take the safety of your child and our campers very seriously. All programming will be designed with safety, sanitation, and distance as a priority. Please read our safety guidelines here for specific details. We believe that this week can provide a very necessary and genuine outlet for your child to share their experience over the last few months.

Who is leading this camp?

Our team is lead by Diana Turner and Alex Owens, two teachers at Bricolage Academy.

Diana Turner is an elementary school teacher who has worked in several different schools in New Orleans as a teacher, coach, and intervention teacher. Alex Owens teaches the Innovator’s Workshop, providing students the space and tools for kids to design, build, and make everything from stop motion animations to cardboard prototypes. At Bricolage, they launched BricoRadio, a student-run radio station that features the stories, music, and good work of the Bricolage community.

Be Loud Studios is a product of that effort as we bring radio and digital media tools to learning communities across New Orleans.
